The recruitment firm Michael Page has just published his study on remuneration trends in more than 850 professions in 26 sectors. The data presented in the report was collected following interviews carried out by 750 of the firm’s consultants with companies and candidates. The work began during 2022 and was completed on June 30, 2023. Discover the trends emerging in the digital and tech fields!

The most profitable digital jobs

In the world of digital, marketing and communication, Michael Page notes that the areas which offer the best remuneration are financial services, luxury, consulting, e-commerce and mass consumption. The 5 digital professions that pay the most are as follows (see featured image):

  1. Chief digital officer / Head of digital: between 60 and 150 K per year,
  2. E-commerce / marketplace / digital manager: between 40 and 100 K per year,
  3. E-commerce account manager: between 35 and 70 K per year,
  4. Data / web analyst: between 35 and 75 K per year,
  5. UX designer: between 40 and 80 K per year.

In the fields of marketing, design and communication, salaries are on average lower. Unsurprisingly, it is management positions that are the most remunerative: between 70 and 180 K on average for a marketing director and between 70 and 150 K for a communications director.

The most sought-after profiles for 2024 in digital

According to Michael Page, the hyperspecialization of skills is a trend that is expected to increase in 2024, particularly for positions with a digital dominance.

With the evolution and rapid multiplication of technologies, companies are no longer only looking for professionals with general expertise but are targeting profiles with mastery of specific tools or channels.

Thus, the British firm believes that the position of Data Analyst is booming: “with the evolution and rapid multiplication of technologies, companies are no longer only looking for professionals with general expertise but are targeting profiles with mastery of specific tools or channels”. Among the most sought-after digital profiles for 2024, Michael Page highlights these 5 positions:

  1. Communication Manager
  2. Digital marketing manager
  3. UI/UX designer
  4. Chief digital officer
  5. Advertising or product manager

Trends in tech

In the tech sector, Michael Page emphasizes that employees find themselves in an advantageous situation: many companies have started a digital transformation while qualified profiles in these fields are rare, leading to a bidding war effect. This trend is particularly true in certain areas such as the cloud or cybersecurity. Despite everything, the cabinet foresees a stabilization of salaries, which have seen a sharp increase in recent years.

For 2024, the most sought-after tech profiles are:

  1. Application web developer
  2. SAP/Salesforce Project Manager
  3. Cloud engineer
  4. Data & machine learning engineer
  5. Cybersecurity engineer

According to recruitment expert Sacha Kalusevic, in 2024 there will be “more tech job openings than qualified candidates ready to change or available on the market”.
